Dominica citizenship is the status of a person recognized under the law of Dominica as being a legal member of the Commonwealth of Dominica (do NOT confuse with the Dominica Republic) and vested with the rights, duties and privileges of being a Dominican citizen. Citizens of Dominica can count on the help and protection of the Commonwealth of Dominica either directly or any diplomatic institutions of the country abroad. Dominica Citizenship by Investment Programme (CBI) was established in 1993 and is one of the longest, running programmes in the world.
In Dominica, the Citizenship by Investment Programme is managed by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) – a government authority. His Excellency Ambassador Emmanuel Nanthan has been heading the CBIU since February 2015, and at the same time has held the position of Ambassador-at-Large for the Office of the Prime Minister of Dominica. He has extensive experience in diplomacy and international affairs, serving as Ambassador to Libya, as well as the role of Special Advisor to two former Heads of the Dominica Government.
